Service to University
Tree of Knowledge, Thomas University Library, 2011
This installation was fabricated for the entrance to the TU Library. I repurposed books that were being taken out of circulation and headed for the landfill. Bark was made from the covers and pages of books. Leaves made from book pages were painted multiple colors. Shredded paper was used to give the appearance of Spanish moss. The tree also functions as a shelf and is a focal point in the sitting area..
2011 Rose Parade Float, Thomas University
I designed the float to highlight all of the academic divisions within the university. I also incorporated the motif of growth and "breaking new ground" in honor of a recent expansion to the campus.
Service to Community
Keep Thomas Country Beautiful, Go Green Video, 2011
I employed students from my class to help out a local organization create a video for recycling education.
Thomas County, Camp H.E.A.L., 2011 and 2012
Hospice of Southwest Georgia and Archbold Hospital in Thomasville host an annual day camp for children who recently experienced the loss of a loved one. I was asked to lead an activity called "Memory Box". Participants were asked to decorate a box in memory of the person they lost. I was there to help the kids paint and collage. But, most of all, I made sure they able to express themselves and have fun.
Cows on Parade, Florence, AL, 2010
This was a community-wide fundraiser sponsored by a civic organization. As a member of the UNA Department of Art, I was asked to design and paint one of the cows for a local business.
